Jordan in winter surprises people. Amman gets snow, Petra gets sleet, and the Mujib canyon trails close entirely from November to March because the flash floods are real. What opens up instead: the Dead Sea sitting at a mild 20C while Amman shivers 1,200 metres above it, Aqaba's water still at 21C in January, Jerash green rather than bleached, and hardly a coach anywhere. Pack a proper coat for the highlands and a swimming costume for the rift. Both get used, sometimes in the same day.
