Burdah Rock Bridge Scramble

Burdah is the highest rock bridge most visitors to Wadi Rum will ever stand on. Getting there is 45 minutes of jeep across open sand past Barrah canyon, then about two hours up — and up means scrambling, not walking. You will use your hands for most of it. Near the top there are three or four moves where the exposure is real, maybe forty metres of air below you, on rock polished smooth by everyone who came before. We carry rope and harnesses and will rig that section for anyone who wants it. No judgement; plenty of people take it. If you are genuinely afraid of heights, book the jeep day instead — people turn back at the last pitch and then have to wait, which spoils it for them. If you have a knee that clicks, the descent is harder than the climb. We don't run this between 11am and 3pm from June to September because the south face becomes an oven. Six climbers per guide, minimum age fourteen, and we will turn a group around if the wind picks up. Trainers with grip, three litres of water, and a long-sleeved shirt you don't mind scuffing.
